Peter Lidington

Many of the images in this gallery are created by a combination of radiography and photography and result from years of experimentation by the artist, Peter Lidington.

He first became interested in the technique of x-raying flowers when working at the University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, his home town. Having trained in Art & Design, he was interested in the potential of these images as pictures, not simply botanical records.

However, it took considerable time and research to locate equipment that could produce images to the high standard he

required, and to find a photographic laboratory able to achieve equal quality.

Eventually, following a move to Hertfordshire to work for a multi-national corporation, Peter was able to realise his dream of working for himself. He produced these flower prints, and also landscape photographs, many of which were taken in the Lake District.

In 1997, Peter and his wife Sue moved to Cumbria, settling in Coniston, where he carried on working until his death following a long illness in 2000. Sue is continuing his work by offering these images for sale.
